Betty Castillo was born in Manhattan, New York and relocated to Florida in 1989. She has lived in Southwest Florida since 2011 in the Cape Coral Area. Ms. Castillo has been a member of the Cape Coral Caloosa Chapter since March 2012 and was introduced to this amazing group by Christine F. Wright. She is a legal assistant and office manager at Wright Firm Law, P.A. and acquired her BAS in Supervision and Management from Florida Southwestern College in December 2014.
Throughout the last three (3) years, Ms. Castillo has worked toward integrating her chapter with the Women?s Instructional Network (WIN) tool offered by ABWA National. It has been her personal goal and task to develop, introduce, implement, and bridge the communications between the members of her chapter, area Council, and sister leagues. Through the sharing of information, the leagues are able to support and promote each other?s fundraising and special events. As Ms. Castillo puts it, ?WIN connects the local and regional leagues to national on many levels. It?s the platform, where leagues can communicate and keep their organization documents in one location that is accessible anytime.? Ms. Castillo has learned that WIN is the one-stop place for connecting, learning, and advancing our leagues into the 21st century.
In 2013, Ms. Castillo started her journey with ABWA as the recipient of the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund (SBMEF) scholarship. She has been awarded Certificates of Achievement for her various leadership roles in her chapter and fundraising events, and has obtained several APEX Awards through the training courses offered on WIN. Ms. Castillo currently serves on the Cape Coral Caloosa Chapter ABWA board as the 2015-2016 President. She was selected as the 2015 Chapter?s Women of the Year and 2016 Nominee for the Top Ten Business Women of ABWA recognition program. She has had the honor of serving as the 2013-2014 Secretary and Hospitality Chairs, and initiated the Chapter?s Annual Bowling Fundraiser in 2014, which has flourished into a fundamental fundraiser for the chapter. Ms. Castillo is also the 2015 Southwest Florida Council Financial Officer and hopes to continue serving her chapter and council for many years to come.
Attending her first National Women?s Leadership Conference held this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico and her first regional conference last year held in Roanoke, Virginia, Ms. Castillo reports that her overall experience was exhilarating and ABWA has forever imprinted on her life. Ms. Castillo looks forward to many years of fellowship and growth as part of American Business Women Association.
