The ABWA Charter Chapter of Homestead held their annual Scholarship Awards Night on June 19, 2017 at the Capri Restaurant in Florida City. Five young women from Homestead and the Keys were awarded scholarships for their outstanding academic achievements.

The Lenna Taylor Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Jemma Lopez. Jemma is the mother of 3 children and a full time first year grad student at FIU studying Physical Therapy. She has previously received 2 ABWA scholarships.

The Judy Beard Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Morgan Turner. She is a recent graduate of South Dade High School. Morgan will attend Miami Dade College in Homestead to study Accounting.

Lacie Mann was awarded a $500 ABWA scholarship. She is a recent graduate of Island Christian School in Islamorada. Lacie will attend Palm Beach Atlantic University. She plans to study Psychology hoping to work with domestically abused women.

A $500 ABWA scholarship was awarded to Lauren Leach. She is a recent graduate of Coral Shores High School in Islamorada. Lauren will attend Florida State University to study Pre-Med.

Jeidi Pinto was awarded a $500 ABWA scholarship. She is attending FIU majoring in Biology and Education with plans to become a pediatric surgeon. Jeidi was also a scholarship recipient in 2016.
