RTEN Announces 2017 Scholarship Recipient:

Autumn Smith

Autumn is attending college for the first time at the age of 43. She is currently enrolled as a full-time student at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) and recently finished her first semester at TMCC with a 4.0 GPA. Her goal is to attain her Associate of Science degree and become a dental hygienist. TMCC's Hygiene program is one of the best in the nation, and has highly competitive acceptance criteria (only 12 candidates per year).

Autumn's goal is to complete her required classes as quickly as possible, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Autumn is single mother raising three children. She runs a small home-based online business called Stamping Cancer Out. Autumn designs and hand stamps cancer jewelry and accessories. She started her online shop not only to bring in extra revenue for her family, but to help people dealing with cancer. Her goal is to bring joy and laughter to those who need it most.

In Autumn's previous career as a shoe store manager, she partnered with the Carson City School District Homeless Advocate to donate shoes and socks to children in need, for which she was recognized in the media and by city officials.

Congratulations Autumn! RTEN wishes you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
