From Idea to Action
Diane Dye Hansen talks to the women of ABWA about the cornerstone of success ? transforming ideas into action. In this powerful talk, you will get tools and be able to put to work immediately to increase productivity when it comes to your ideas. You will learn about motivation styles and why the cookie-cutter approach to increasing productivity doesn?t work. We?ll talk about some of the tools that are available for free to help inspiration flow: mobile apps for networking, journaling techniques, and even playlists, that will help bring new energy into your routine. You?ll understand the three parts of actionable accountability (to self, to team, and to community) and how to prioritize your projects to keep them moving and stave off burn out. At the end of this fast paced session, you?ll know yourself a little better and will be ready to take action!

RTEN Announces 2016 Scholarship Recipient:
My career goal is to get my Associates degree in Science from Western Nevada College and then take a few more credits emphasizing Computer Science classes such as Physics and higher Math all the way up to Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. I plan to sign up for Graphic Design classes along with Computer Science classes which will help me in my current Western Nevada College (WNC) work-study job in Computing Services which is to update all scholarships and other data on the WNC's WestNET while the Web Master develops a new website for WNC.
After completing my classes here at WNC, I plan to transfer to University of Reno (UNR) to get my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business & Graphic Design. My previous goal was to get back into the Nursing program, but due to medical issues in my family, I had to change my career from medical to business field.
Last summer, after attending NEW Leadership in Las Vegas and after talking with Jacklyn Cobbs Fuller, it became clear to me to pursue a Bachelors in Computer Science field for which I am taking Physics and Math classes to complete my Associates of Science from WNC. I'm glad that I did not stop persevering in pursuing the goals in my life for the future of my family! Having an Associate's degree first and then continuing to work on to getting a Bachelor's degree will mean a big financial security for my family. My ultimate objective is to obtain a degree, which will open the door to a fulfilling career and a higher-paying job and my dream to start my own business someday!
