We are pleased to announce our 2017 American Business Woman of the Year!

It has been a long-standing tradition of ABWA's local leagues to annually recognize a member who has made notable contributions to the success of the league.

RTEN congratulates Kathy Powers on the honor of being named the 2016-2017 Woman of the Year.

Kathy serves as RTEN's Vice President of Marketing/Public Relations. In this position, she is responsible for increasing the visibility of RTEN within our local community, managing RTEN's website and social media, and promoting our events and activities. She is also Co-Chair of ABW Day, which is our annual fundraising event to support RTEN?s scholarship program, and editor of our newsletter. Equally important, Kathy is always eager to help RTEN and the Executive Board whenever needed.

Kathy was introduced to ABWA when she was invited to RTEN's annual ABW Day fundraiser in September 2014 by her soon-to-be-employer, Jackie Frady of the National Automobile Museum. She enjoyed the ABW Day so much that she attended RTEN's networking luncheon the following month, and joined ABWA and RTEN in December 2014.

She quickly became involved at a leadership level, when elected Vice President of Membership in May 2015, filling a partial term. In February 2016, she filled the vacancy of Vice President of Marketing/Public Relations. In 2015, she was ABW Day Raffle Basket Committee Chair, and then moved to Co-Chair of the event in 2016. Kathy has participated in all Fall and Spring Membership Recruitment Campaigns since joining.

In addition, she has attended ABWA's National Women's Leadership Conferences in 2015 and 2016, and has completed two years of a four-year professional development track, Women as 21st Century Leaders, presented by Park University. She also attended the Western Regional Conference in 2016. Kathy joined the National Automobile Museum in October 2014. She was promoted to Project Manager in October 2016 and serves as a manager-on-duty.
